Getting notifications
Reminders before your starred talks, plus announcements from the organizers (room changes, meal calls).
On iPhone or iPad
Notifications need the app on your Home Screen first (iOS 16.4 or newer):
- Tap the Share button (the square with the arrow) at the bottom of Safari.
- Choose Add to Home Screen, then Add.
- Open the app from the new icon.
- Go to My Talks and tap Enable notifications.
Once enabled, organizer announcements arrive like any app notification, even with the app closed. Talk reminders are timed by the app itself, so leave it open in the background on the day if you're counting on them. Adding your talks to your calendar covers you either way.
Tapped “Don't Allow”? Open the iPhone Settings app → Notifications → the app → Allow Notifications, then come back here.
Set up and want to be sure? In My Talks, tap Send a test notification. One real notification goes to this device and the page tells you when it lands.
On Android
Nothing to install — open My Talks, tap Enable notifications, and allow when your phone asks. Organizer announcements then reach you even with the browser closed. Talk reminders are timed by the app itself, so leave it open in the background on the day if you're counting on them.
Blocked it by accident? Tap the icon next to the address bar (🔒 or ⚙) → Permissions → Notifications → Allow, then reload this page.

On a computer
Enable notifications from My Talks — they show while the browser is open. For the full experience (offline schedule, alerts in your pocket), open the event on your phone.

Common questions
Do I need an account or an app from the App Store?
No. There's no sign-up, no login, and nothing to download from an app store — scan the QR code or open the link and you're in. Everything you star stays on your phone.
Will it work with bad cell service at the venue?
Yes. The schedule and venue map are saved on your phone the first time you open them, so airplane mode, dead spots, and overloaded venue Wi-Fi are all fine. Open the app once on a good connection before you arrive and you're set.
What does starring a talk do?
Starred talks build your personal agenda in My Talks and are what reminders fire for. Keynotes, meals, and other all-attendee sessions appear in My Talks automatically — star one to get an alert for it too.
How do I know notifications will actually work?
Don't take our word for it. Once notifications are on, My Talks has a “Send a test notification” button. It sends one real notification to your phone and tells you the moment your device reports it arrived. If it doesn't turn up, the page explains what to check.
I sent a test and nothing arrived. What now?
That usually means the phone is holding it back rather than the app failing. Check Focus or Do Not Disturb, Low Power Mode or battery saver, and that notifications are allowed for this app in your system settings. On iPhone, notifications only work at all once the app is on your Home Screen. Calendar reminders are the reliable fallback: they ring no matter what.
How do I get reminders in my calendar instead?
In My Talks, tap “Add my talks to calendar.” That downloads your starred talks with built-in reminders — they ring even with everything closed, on any phone.
How does the map know my next room?
The map highlights the room of your next starred talk automatically. Tap any room name in the schedule to jump to it on the map.
Can I share a talk with someone?
Yes — every talk page has a Share button, and the link keeps working even if the talk's room or time changes.
Can I share my whole talk list?
Yes. In My Talks, tap “Share my talks” and send the link however you like — AirDrop, text, anything. When the other person opens it, they see your list and can add it to their own stars with one tap. Everything travels inside the link itself, so it works even with no signal at the venue.
